Kelsey is just a normal seventeen year old girl, who wants a job like any other ambitious teenager. She ends up getting a short job at a circus where she is accepted, and enjoys spending her time there. When Kelsey is told to clean out the Tigers cage, she meets Ren, who is a blue eyed white tiger from India. At first she's scared of the wild animal, but something draws her to him. After time passes she becomes closer and closer with the tiger, she reads him books and shows him her sketches. When a strange man named Mr. Kaddam comes to visit the circus he offers a job to Kelsey, which after thinking it over she accepts. The job is to go to India with the tiger and Mr. Kaddam and be the tigers care taker for the summer. One night when Kelsey and the tiger are taking a walk together, the tiger lags behind her and when she turns to look back at him, in his place is a beautiful Indian man. She discovers that Ren is centuries old, and a Indian prince that has a curse put upon him. As the book progresses, she discovers emotions that erupt into something crazy.

Lord of the Flies- Part Two Answers
In the last paragraph, Golding writes “...Ralph wept for the end of innocence, the darkness of men’s hearts...” Discuss how this relates to the events that happened in the book.
- At the beginning of the book, when the two boys Ralph and Piggy find the conch then they are full of hope. That the rescuers will come and rescue them, that they can all work together and hold off until that point. And for a while that works out, until there is a power struggle and the little boy’s get bored of the way things are going. The way that Ralph is saying that they need to do things, such as refill the water thing that they built. And redo the shelters because they only worked together for the first one, and the number of people willing to help kept depleting quickly until there was only two left working on the last one. As the story line progresses the boy’s fall apart, and the end when Jack turns on them. Making everyone betray them too, I believe that Ralph had a remembering of what had happened at the beginning. When there wasn’t darkness present in most of the children’s souls. “ Ralph wept for the end of innocence, the darkness of men’s hearts..”
Do you agree with the idea that evil is inherent in people, regardless of age? Discuss in relation to your own experiences as well as those in the book.-
- I personally believe that nobodies just plain evil. I believe that there are bad people in the world, and people that make bad choices and even psychotic ones, but not truly evil. When I think of the word evil, what comes to my mind is the old cartoons where they had the small red devils on peoples shoulders telling them the bad thing they should do, with the angel on the other telling them to do the right thing. Which to me, signifies an internal conflict between what a person wants to do, and what a person feels he/she should do. Evil to me is just a definition of someone who hasn’t made the right choices, but I don’t believe that a person is ever just truly evil.

Lord of the Flies- Part One Answers
2. One of the main points of this book is to look at the effects of authority, or the lack of authority, on people. The "society" that the boys created eventually begins to fall apart; do you think this is because of the leaders they chose (Ralph and Jack), or because of the situation they were in (meaning who their leaders were didn't matter)?
I personally believe that it was more the situation then the leaders they chose. Because no matter where you put little boy’s there always going to be exactly that, children who follow and don’t know how to lead. The leaders probably could of tried to take precautions to keep the ending from turning out as sad and broken as it did, but the leaders were still just kid’s themselves. Kid’s shouldn’t have to take that responsibility on there shoulders.
3. Suspend your rationale thinking for a moment, and imagine that the place you all know best involving established authority - school - is suddenly without teachers, Ms. Nadeau, etc. for an extended period of time (think weeks). What would happen?
If this event were to occur in real life, I would like to think and have others think that some students would step up and continue the schooling. But in reality, student’s would throw a party. They wouldn’t feel obliged to do any work, and some might not even go to school. If some students finished the work that they were given before teachers magically disappeared, then they wouldn’t know what to try and accomplish after that. There would be people running around through the hallway’s, making messes because they don’t have to clean them up, there would be chewed gum everywhere, and the bathrooms would end up being disgusting.
